ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The first unbeaten regular season in the USL-W League is in the books for Detroit City FC and the Le Rouge women are heading into their first postseason on a roll.

Detroit City FC capped a 10-0-2 regular season with a resounding 3-0 shutout of host AFC Ann Arbor Sunday at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School to complete the 2024 regular season and wait for Monday’s postseason parings.

Detroit City FC finishes the regular season with 32 total points to finish nine points ahead of Great Lakes Division runner-up Kalamazoo FC (23 points) and 11 points ahead of third-place finisher Midwest United FC (21 points) in the seven-team division. Only Detroit City FC qualified out of the Great Lakes Division to advance to the USL-W League 16-team playoffs.

Detroit City FC, which is on a five-game win streak and on a 12-game unbeaten streak this season – both the longest in the DCFC women’s franchise history – have recorded eight shutouts on the season, another team record, and have only allowed four team score goals on the Le Rouge and only one team has scored two goals on the team.

Detroit City FC has outscored the opposition 24-5 this season while allowing single goals to Midwest United FC, AFC Ann Arbor and Flint City AFC while conceding two goals in a game to the South Bend-Indiana-based Michiana Lions (a 3-2 win on June 19). The other eight games ended with a clean sheet.

The DCFC women made AFC Ann Arbor their 10th victim of the season – and eighth shutout victim – after scoring in the 27th, 77th and 91st minutes to prevail and put a stamp on the unbeaten regular season.

The eventual game winner in the 27th minute came off a Joyelle Washington cornerkick, where the bending corner was finished off with a close-range header from Acadia Murphy.

Lilly Jeakle, a 15-year-old from Lake Orion, Mich., and a standout on the youth level with the Nationals Girls Academy, returned to the team and scored the second goal in the 77th minute to make it 2-0. Ella Offer served the ball over to Jeakle, who took a touch, fought-off a defender draped over her shoulder, and slammed it home for DCFC.

Just seconds into stoppage time towards the tail end of the second half, Detroit City was able to convert again to cap the scoring. This time Grand Valley State University-graduate Kayla Addison corralled a through ball from Jeakle and laced her shot into the corner of the goal.

Michigan State University and Novi High School graduate Gabby Shriver made five saves to claim the shutout for DCFC.
