LEESBURG, Virginia – Nothing was settled Saturday between host Loudoun United and Detroit City FC.
Nothing.
The two USL Championship-East Conference rivals could not light up the scoreboard during a 0-0 conference draw Saturday evening at Segra Field about 30 minutes northwest of Washington D.C.
Detroit City FC goalkeeper was man of the match in turning aside five shots for the shutout for Detroit City FC (6-1-1, 5-1-1).
Counterpart Hugo Fauroux recorded four saves for Loudoun United (2-4-2, 2-4-2).
Loudoun outshot visiting DCFC 11-9 on the night, including 5-3 with shots on goal, and also registered a 5-2 advantage on cornerkicks.
Detroit City FC has now been shutout for two straight games but holds a 11-6 scoring edge over its foes this season, including 10-6 against USL Championship opponents. The Le Rouge stand in third place in the Eastern Conference with 16 points, trailing only league-leader Charleston Battery (24 points) and Louisville City (18 points).
Standout Stephen Carroll missed the game due to a red card infraction the previous weekend against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
Loudoun United has been outscored 13-10 this season with all games being played against USL Championship opponents.
Detroit City FC will face a short turnaround with the squad travelling to Houston to take on Houston Dynamo FC of Major League Soccer on Tuesday in the Round of 32 in the US Open Cup.
