MARION, Ohio – Fut Ohio SC is marching onward.

The next destination is the UPSL Fall Season National Tournament quarterfinals at a site to be determined. The Westerville, Ohio-based side prevailed Saturday night under brick and windy conditions where the temperatures were in the high 20s with a 1-0 victory over Black Cat FC in the round of 16 at Marion Grant Middle School.

Fut Ohio will face Bridgeport, West Virginia-based Bridge Sports Club on Dec. 7 in its national quarterfinals match.

Despite being outshot 10-4 in the first half, Fut Ohio scored the game’s only goal in the 37th minute. Forward/attacking midfielder Jacob Deaver’s cross over to the left side was redirected near the doorstep by forward Ousseynou Cisse, who left no doubt from two yards out with his team-leading 11th goal of the season.

Ousseynou has scored 25.6 percent of the goals for Fut Ohio FC this season.

Devin Patel recorded seven saves in recording his team’s ninth shutout of the campaign. Defensively, Fut Ohio SC’s defense blocked four shots, and Patel came off his line to thwart several long throw-ins, crosses and set pieces sent into the box.

Black Cat FC’s offense was snakebit in the contest, ringing four shots off the framework during the game and seeing the four shots blocked by Fut Ohio’s stingy defense.

Black Cat FC, which is based in Lafayette, Indiana, held a 16-9 overall shots advantage in the game, including a 7-5 edge with shots on goal, but could not penetrate one of the UPSL’s top defensive units.

Fut Ohio SC held 6-2 edge off cornerkicks.

Fut Ohio SC (11-2-1) has now outscored the opposition 43-5 this fall season and lowered its team goals-against-average down to a paltry 0.36 over – one of the best in the country. Fut Ohio SC has now won six straight games and are 9-2-0 in its last 11 contests. Fut Ohio’s offense has scored 3.08 goals-per-game this season but struggled to gain many quality chances in the game against Blackcat SC. But it had enough in Cisse’s goal.

Fut Ohio notched its second consecutive clean sheet following a 2-0 victory over Duka FC in the Round of 32 and have pitched four shoutouts in its last five games where it holds a 14-1 scoring edge.

Black Cat FC ended its 2024 fall season with a 9-3-2 overall record. Blackcat ends the fall campaign with a 38-12 scoring edge, averaged 2.72 goals-per-game and finishes with a 0.86 team goals-against-average. Black Cat FC finished the season by going 3-2-1 in its last six games, and that included a 4-3 overtime victory over Diverse City FC in the Round of 32.
