DEARBORN, Mich – In terms of the Kensington Lakes Activities Association-East Division title, Dearborn Fordson controls its own destiny.

The Tractors, honorable mention in the Division 1 polls, defeated crosstown rival Dearborn 2-0 Thursday night to maintain their grip on the league lead and can win one of two league contests next week against Livonia Franklin or Livonia Churchill to clinch the divisional crown.

Northville has already clinched the KLAA-West Division.

Fordson (10-1-2, 10-1-1) continued perhaps its best start in program history by scoring two goals in the final 24 minutes to blank the Pioneers.

Sophomore forward Hassan Serhan knocked in a rebound with 23:54 remaining which was eventually the game-winning goal. Junior midfielder Mendi Alhasnawi scored an insurance tally with 3:50 remaining to cap the scoring.

Senior Rayan Ghadieh recorded the clean sheet in goal for the Tracotors who have posted six straight shutouts as part of their six-game win streak and are now on a 10-game unbeaten streak overall. In the last 10 games, Fordson owns a 46-3 scoring edge.

When the two teams tied back on Sept. 5, Fordson had to score twice in the final 10 minutes to earn a draw. Since then, the Tractors have been able to snatch the lead away from Livonia Stevenson and the rest of the group.

Fordson now has 32 points with two games to go, while Livonia Stevenson (26) and Livonia Churchill (25) not too far off the pace.

Overall for the season, Fordson has outscored the opposition 58-6 with nine shutouts. The Tractors have seven clean sheets in its last eight games.

LAKE ORION 3, CLARKSTON 2: Lake Orion’s starting backfield and goalkeeper have not conceded any goals this season. The Dragons ended up subbing in several reserves after leading 2-0 at the half before Clarkston came back and tied the game. Lake Orion scored the game-winner in the waning moments to defeat one of its arch-rivals in an OAA crossover play. Senior Deniz Redzep recorded the third goal for Lake Orion. The Dragons (8-2-1) have outscored their opposition 23-13 this season. Clarkston slipped to 7-7-1 overall on the season but were two days removed from upsetting Division 1 top-10 Troy Athens 1-0.

KINGSFORD 2, MARQUETTE 0: For the first time, the five larger schools with boys soccer programs in the Upper Peninsula are playing an eight-game schedule as par to f the Upper Peninsula Soccer Association and Kingsford has already clinched the crown. The Division 3 fifth-ranked Flivvers posted this shutout win over the Sentinels making it the second straight season that Kingsford has posted the regular season sweep over Marquette, listed as honorable mention in the Division 2 polls. Kingsford (12-1-1, 7-0-0) has outscored the league competition 43-3 this season and 69-9 overall and has posted nine clean sheets, six in league play. Sophomore Jett Buckley set up senior brother Jaxon Buckley for the first goal near the top of the 18 and the older Buckley slipped through three defenders before recording his team-leading 34th goal of the season in the 20th minute. In the 36th minute, Jaxon Buckley was ripped down inside the penalty box and Gavyn Landon drilled home the ensuing penalty kick for the 2-0 advantage at the half.  Junior Landon Adam recorded the shutout for Kingsford. Edan Hautmaki recorded eight saves for Marquette (12-3-2, 3-2-1), which was shut out for just the third time this season – twice by Kingsford and once by Division 1 top-10 and unbeaten Oxford – but has outscored its opposition 75-20 this season. Marquette still has league games against Sault Ste Marie and Houghton coming up before entering the two-day Upper Peninsula Division I Tournament.
