PREP GIRLS SOCCER: Stevenson trips up Utica; Markham scores four for Cheboygan; Chelsea, Romeo, Trenton pick up wins


STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Presley Jones continued her fast start to the 2024 season Wednesday and added to her impressive tally of finding the back of the net.

The Sterling Heights Stevenson junior scored her eighth and ninth goals of the season, including the game-winner in the second half, in leading the Titans to a 2-1 victory over visiting Utica in Macomb Area Conference White Division play.

Isabelle Reda and Lillian Kulczycki picked up the assists for Stevenson, which moved to 2-5-0 on the year and 1-2 in the conference.

Sarah Fromm scored for Utica (2-1-2, 1-1-1).


CHEBOYGAN 8, BIG RAPIDS CROSSROADS ACADEMY 0: Freshman Elise Markham scored the first four goals of her young prep career, as Cheboygan cruised to the Northern Michigan Soccer League victory. Ava Baldwin added two goals and Jillian McKinley and Jaelyn Wheelock added single goals for Cheboygan (4-0-0, 4-0-0).


CHELSEA 5, ADRIAN 2: Balanced scoring was the key Wednesday in the Southeastern Conference-White Division clash. Five different players scored goals in the win. Christina Roberts and Emma Ruszkiewicz both had a goal and an assist, while Addison Sinkwitts, Maya Valik and Quinn Johnson also scored for the winners. Kate McKenzie also had an assists for the Bulldogs.


ROMEO 2, MACOMB L’ANSE CREUSE NORTH 0: Romeo handed L’Anse Creuse North its first loss of the season and scored in each half in this Macomb Area Conference Red Division clash. Sam Sackfield and Jillian Wilkinson had goals and Lydia Hill had two assists for the Bulldogs.


TRENTON 3, WYANDOTTE ROOSEVELT 0: After a scoreless first half, Trenton scored three times and cruised to the Downriver League victory to remain in first place. Avery Shultz scored the first game-winning goas, Claire Gonyea had a goal and an assist and Chloe Wishart drew two assists in the win for the Trojans (6-2-0, 4-0-0). Leila Gorno had the shutout for Trenton. Bianca Hawthorne starred in net for Wyandotte.
