PREP ROUNDUP: Mona Shores slips past Grand Haven; Thornapple-Kellogg rolls past Hastings
NORTON SHORES, Mich. – Muskegon Mona Shores added to its win total Saturday on the young season, topping Grand Haven 1-0 in an Ottawa Kent Conference crossover game.
Senior midfielder Lilly Houle scored the game’s only goal in the second half off an assist from junior midfielder Ella Kinney.
Jersey VanderWall, a senior goalkeeper who registered 11 shutouts last season, earned the clean sheet on eight saves for the Sailors (2-0-0).
MIDDLEVILLE THONRAPPLE-KELLOGG 5, HASTINGS 1: Thornapple-Kellogg opened up the season Saturday with this lopsided non-conference victory over nearby Hastings. Five different players scored for the Trojans.
MUSKEGON MONA SHORES 6, ALLENDALE 3: The Sailors doubled up Allendale in this season-opening win Wednesday. Senior forward Shay Norden scored four goals to lead the way. Ava Frye and Summer Darrow also scored for the Sailors. Six different players also registered assists in the OKC crossover victory.
