HASTINGS, Mich. – three different players scored goals Wednesday and Hastings went on to upend Delton Kellogg 3-0 in a non-conference matchup.
Raegen Morrison scored the second goal and helped assist the third goal in the victory. Dezarae Mathis scored the first goal for a 1-0 halftime lead and also had an assist, while Hannah Sorensen netted the third goal for Hastings.
The Saxons, who hail from the Interstate 8 Athletic Conference, moved to 1-1-0 on the young season with the win.
FRUITPORT 4, MUSKEGON OAKRIDGE 2: Kendal Kolberg was a one-woman wrecking cru Wednesday night for Fruitport in this non-conference contest. Despite missing a second-half penalty kick, she more than made up for it with a four-goal performance for the Trojans. In the first half, Kolberg headed home a cornerkick and also scored off a rebound of her won shot. In the second half, she booted home the game winner in the 66th minute and added and insurance tally in the 75th minute for Fruitport.
MACOMB DAKOTA 1, CLINTON TOWNSHIP CHIPPEWA VALLEY 0: Senior Delaney Davis scored and the Cougars defense made it stand Tuesday in this MAC crossover contest. It was the season opener for Dakota (1-0-0).
WYOMING KELLOGGSVILLE 3, KENT CITY 1: Kelloggsville had three different goal scorers in this non-league victory.
SPRING LAKE 1, MUSKEGON WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 1: Nothing was settled in this non-conference matchup between OKC Blue Division member Spring Lake and Alliance League member Western Michigan Christian. Ella Andree scored in the second minute for Spring Lake. Nora Pollock scored in the second half for Western Michigan Christian.
GRAND RAPIDS FOREST HILLS CENTRAL 1, CALEDONIA 0: Two of the top teams in the 48-school Ottawa Kent Conference squared off and the Rangers posted this OKC crossover victory. Haley Ward scored the goal for Forest Hills Central. Ellery Smith had the shutout. Davarne Balczak had eight saves in a losing effort for Caledonia.
PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 2, DEARBORN DIVINE CHILD 1: Notre Dame Prep moved to 1-0-1 on the young campaign with this narrow triumph over the Falcons. Emily Teolis scored off a pass from Ellie Whalen in the second minute and Adriana Lorenz scored the eventual game-winner in the 14th minute off a cross from Maggie Maher. Camryn Huhn scored for Divine Child.
CALEDONIA 6, HUDSONVILLE HOME SCHOOL HORNETS 0: Josie Wilcox scored twice Tuesday in leading the fighting Scotts to the non-league win. Averi Rosted, Kendall Maynard, Baylee Devries and Ellery Smith also scored for Caledonia. Davarne Balczak notched the shutout.
BIRMINGHAM MARIAN 0, DETROIT COUNTRY DAY 0: Neither team could solve the opposition’s defense in this non-league draw Wednesday night. Danielle Mertz notched her second shutout of the campaign for Marian (1-0-1). Mercedes Arinez collected eight saves for DCD. Marian held a 15-2 overall shots edge in the game.
LOWELL 5, GRANDVILLE CALVIN CHRISTIAN 1: Lowell opened up the season with this OKC crossover win.
MUSKEGON ORCHARD VIEW 2, GRAND RAPIDS WELLSPRING PREP 0: Audrey Letherby and Cassidy Noordhoek scored goals and Emily Dantos notched the clean sheet for Orchard View in this non-league contest.
CLARKSTON EVEREST COLLEGIATE 2, ALLEN PARK CABRINI 1: Everest Collegiate, last year’s Division 4 state runner-up, recorded this narrow CHSL crossover win Wednesday.
GRANDVILLE 4, ALLENDALE 2: OKC Red Division member Grandville doubled up OKC Blue Division foe Allendale Wednesday night in this non-league contest.
