The Premier Media Group has been quite active in the Michigan media circles with its production, broadcasting and digital journalism presence for the past three-plus years and is consistently expanding its brand and reach to all parts of the state. PMG has operated its flagship production during the first three years with the ever-expanding Michigan Soccer Network (MSN) brand, while PMG also announced in late July it was in the beginning stages of launching the National Soccer Network (NSN), which will begin to expand into numerous states over the next couple of years with the long-term goal of having a presence in each state.
“The amount of work behind the scenes over the past three years has put PMG into a great position to be able to take on opportunities like Oakland (University),” said Jonathan Turner, Director of Broadcasting for the Michigan Soccer Network and President of the Premier Media Group and all of its affiliate companies. “We are excited to help elevate Oaklands current broadcasts and create a better overall experience for the viewer at home and the university.”
Oakland University’s currently offers 17 varsity sports, but PMG will handle only sports or individual games and competitions specified by the university in the contract. The OU varsity sports roster includes men’s basketball, men’s soccer, men’s cross-country, men’s track and field, men’s swimming and diving, men’s golf and men’s baseball, while the school also offers varsity sports for women’s basketball, women’s soccer, women’s cross-country, women’s track and field, women’s swimming and diving, women’s golf, women’s softball, women’s tennis, women’s volleyball and dance. PMG will handle production for some of those sports.
Oakland University is the first university or college that has awarded PMG with a bid to help with production for athletics.
Trademarks and copyrights have been applied for and issued to all of PMG’s companies and affiliates. The National Soccer Network’s website will roll out during the first quarter of 2025.
PMG has conducted its own broadcasts and production or have worked in conjunction with other media companies since its May 2021 launch and have been a part of over 1,400 broadcasts on its YouTube and Roku channels, with the NFHS (national Federation of High Schools) network or various amateur, club and pre-professional leagues such as the UPSL (United Professional Soccer League) and the MSYSA (Michigan State Youth Soccer Association). PMG and MSN also conduct broadcasts and production of Rochester Christian University men’s soccer and women’s soccer teams for home games in 2024.
PMG has grown by leaps and bounds with its Michigan Soccer Network (MSN) brand, which covers thousands of teams of various levels across the state of Michigan, and compiles and releases detailed game-day stories, features, enterprise pieces, editorials, player and team rankings, plus its popular High School Rankings Show, the first of its kind in Michigan for any sport that counts down the top boys soccer (fall) and girls soccer (spring) as presented by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association.
