TRENTON, Mich. – Behind two goals in each half, Trenton added to its win total Monday night with a 4-0 Downriver League shutout of Allen Park.
It was the home opener for the Trojans. Aubrey Gerou finished off a cross from Chloe Wishart in the 11th minute which turned out to be her first goal of the campaign and first game-winner. Wishart later added a goal off and assist from Julia Mach in the 23rd minute, as the Trojans settled for a 2-0 halftime advantage.
Wishart converted again in the 51st minute, this time finishing off a helper from Claire Gonyea, while Alyssa Berger volleyed home a Avery Schultz cornerkick in the 66th minute to cap the scoring.
Leila Gorno notched her third shutout on the young season with two saves and behind the stellar backfield play of Kira Johnson, Miya Severino, Lilly Mulford and Elle Dolson.
Trenton (3-0-0, 2-0-0) outshot Allen Park 23-2 in the contest.
DAVISON 2, GRAND BLANC 1: Visiting Davison has had its fair share of struggles against Grand Blanc over the year. Monday was not one of them. For the second time in three seasons the Cardinals upended the Bobcats in Saginaw Valley League action. Nia Smith and Kylie Worthing both scored for Davison, which rallied back from a 1-0 deficit. The Cardinals last defeated Grand Blanc in the district opener in 2022. Lauren Lee tallied for Grand Blanc, which is trying to replace nine starters.
