MILFORD, Mich. – The undefeated season for Milford continued Monday night.
The Mavericks took down White Lake Lakeland 3-1 in the Lakes Valley Conference Tournament quarterfinals to advance to Thursday’s semifinals and improve to 9-0-3 overall.
Nick Dziedzic, Tyler Hannert and Miles Damer scored goals, while Damer added an assist to pace Milford, which earned the No. seed with a 5-0-3 league record. Jason Taggart and Jesse Wyskiel picked up helpers in the contest for the Mavericks.
White Lake Lakeland (1-10-1) became just the fifth school to even score upon Milford, which holds a 33-5 scoring edge this season. The Mavericks have earned seven shutouts on the season in 12 games.
Milford will host fourth-seeded Waterford Kettering at 7 p.m. Thursday in the LVC Tournament semifinals.
MORE LAKES VALLEY CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
SOUTH LYON 2, WALLED LAKE WESTERN 1: The second-seeded Lions opened up the Lakes Valley Conference Tournament with this narrow win over defending LVC champion Walled Lake Western. Austin Scheel scored both goals for the Lions, who advance to the conference tournament semifinals on Wednesday. Jaden Sumpter picked up an assist and Mateus Chimeri recorded the win in goal for South Lyon (7-4-0), which owns a 21-14 scoring edge this season.
WALLED LAKE NORTHERN 2, WALLED LAKE CENTRAL 0: Heading into Monday’s LVC Tournament quarterfinals, Walled Lake Central owned a 46-10 scoring edge this season and even defeated Walled Lake Northern 7-0 back on Sept. 12. Not this time around. Sixth-seeded Waled Lake Western avenged its loss to the Vikings 11 days earlier with this upset win over Walled Lake Central to advance to the conference semifinals. Northern has been outscored 33-21 this season and only pitched two shutouts but was able to keep Walled Lake Central’s high-powered offense off the scoreboard.
WATERFORD KETTERING 1, SOUTH LYON EAST 0: The Captains’ grand turnaround campaign continued Monday night with this shutout victory over fifth-seeded South Lyon East. Ryan Novack scored the goal for fourth-seeded Kettering (13-3-0). Kuba Mrozcek recorded the clean sheet for the Captains, who have a school all-time best 10 shutouts this season. Kettering has outscored the opposition 41-7 this year after finishing last in the conference a year ago. The Captains will visit top-seeded Milford at 7 p.m. Thursday in the LVC Tournament semifinals.
OTHER GAMES
GRAND RAPIDS FOREST HILLS CENTRAL 3, GRAND RAPIDS CHRISTIAN 1: The Rangers completed the regular season sweep of the defending Division 2 state champion Eagles Monday in Ottawa Kent Conference-White Division play. Andrew Moeller scored the second and third goals on the night for Forest Hills Central, while Micah Scholtens scoring the first goal for the Rangers (8-4-2, 5-2-1). Lucas Moeller (eight assists) and Eli Lipke assisted on the first two goals with Andrew Moeller’s second tally came off a penalty kick and was his team-leading 17th goal of the season. Ryan Webb made three saves in four chances and Scholten starred defensively for Forest Hills Central. John Cassiday scored for Grand Rapids Christian (8-5-1, 5-3-1) in the 15th minute which gave the Eagles a 1-0 advantage.
KINGSFORD 7, HOUGHTON 3: Jaxon Buckley racked up four more goals and two assists in leading Kingsford to a non-conference win Monday. Buckley now has 33 goals on the season – top 10 in the state – and 121 for his four-year career which landed him inside the top 25 on the all-time career goals list in Michigan. Jett Buckley added three goals and one assist and Gavyn Landon recorded four helpers for the Flivvers. Gavin More and Jonah Nelson also had strong games in the midfield and Jake Crockford starred defensively for Kingsford (11-1-1), which now owns a 66-9 scoring edge.
TEMPERANCE STATE LINE CHRISTIAN 2, BOWLING GREEN (OHIO) CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 2: Cooper Worley scored both goals for State Line Christian Monday, as the Patriots earned the non-conference draw with the Lions.

The Michigan-based PMG, founded in 2022, its flagship production the Michigan Soccer Network and all other affiliates, is actively scheduling games in a wide variety of high school leagues and conferences, small colleges, amateur, pre-professional, youth club, and other avenues of the beautiful game in Michigan.

PMG will also be holding various “Win A Free Broadcast” contest at various parts of the fall, winter (indoor) and spring seasons.
"(Michigan Soccer Network) has does a great job making these kids feel special,” offered Michal Hatfield, girls soccer coach at Trenton High School who also coaches in the Detroit City FC youth club system. “The broadcasts were professionally done and we were very pleased when they did our games. They did a great job with (play-by-play), graphics and postgame interviews with the kids. And a lot of people saw it. We had uncles and aunts that have never seen their nieces play get a chance to watch them on YouTube). And all of the kids were able to jump on there (the YouTube channel) afterwards and watch the game.”
The MSN staff had the pleasure of broadcasting multiple games the last two school years for schools in the Oakland Activities Association and have received its fair share of feedback. The goal is to conduct broadcasts of games throughout the state of Michigan, especially in the larger populated regions.
“MSN has done a great job with broadcasts in our league (Macomb Area Conference),” said Trevor Foster, current head coach of the Romeo girls soccer program, goalkeepers coach for Oakland University’s soccer programs, and director at the Michigan Goalkeepers Academy. “I know the girls love it. And I know some of the parents were putting their earphones on and listening to the game when they were (in the stands) and it gives relatives a chance to watch games that they normally wouldn’t be able to.
“It’s as close to professional (broadcast) as any broadcast of high school soccer that you will see out there,” added Foster. “Plus, they do all types of (amateur and pre-professional) leagues out there (in Michigan).”
“We were very pleased, especially with the knowledge of high school soccer in the state of Michigan from the play-by-play announcers and color commentators,” said Todd Heugh, the current director of athletics at Troy Athens High School and a former coach at the school. “They put together a valuable (product) and the games are live on YouTube for everyone to watch, even if you are (a relative or an alumni) not in the area. I know coaches go on there (YouTube), too, to watch games of an upcoming opponent.”
The PMG staff has a goal of 100-plus games this fall from mid-August through November. The Michigan Soccer Network conducted a record 50 remote or in-person broadcasts during the month of June.
PMG also has contacts within Michigan, the Midwest and even in different parts of the U.S. and have become broadcast partners for more than 15 different leagues or franchises within those leagues over the past three years. PMG has multiple broadcasting rights for within the USL-League Two, USL-W League, UPSL, MWPL, NISA, WSPL and more and constantly expanding its web of coverage both on various YouTube channels and on our website at www.michigansoccernetwork.com. It has broadcasted more high school boys soccer and high school girls soccer at more than 75 high schools in Michigan.
