KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Current Sporting KC MLS player and Michigan-born Jake Davis has been selected as an alternate player on the 2024 U.S. Olympic Men’s Soccer Team.

Davis, who grew up in Rochester Hills, Mich., has been a member of the Sporting KC organization since he was 15 years old competing in the youth, minor league and professional levels and is currently a starter on the Sporting KC Major League Soccer franchise.

Davis, who will join Sporting KC teammate John Pulskamp on the 22-man roster, will be one of four alternates on the team which will compete in France later this month. Only 18 players can dress for each game and U.S. Soccer restricts players over 23 years of age of competing on the Olympic roster. Davis is 22.

A midfielder and outside back, Davis competed in the Vardar organization through the ninth grade, the last year on Vardar’s U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy program (now MLS Next Academy) before transferring over to the Kansas City area to play in Sporting KC’s Developmental Academy.

After graduating from high school in 2017, Davis was pulled up to the Sporting KC second team, Sporting Kansas City II, which competes in the MLS Next Pro, before getting the call up to the MLS ranks in 2022.

Davis will play a game on Wednesday with Sporting KC (5-13-5) with FC Dallas before getting on a plane Thursday to fly to France.
