OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: The River Rats were waiting in the wings after a respectable third-place finish in the SEC-Red. Finishing with 12 wins, Ann Arbor Huron exacted some revenge on league, city and state-ranked rival Ann Arbor Skyline with a 1-0 upset win. The River Rats were upset by Belleville in the regional semifinals.
SCHOOL: Ann Arbor Skyline

2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 13-4-2, 12-2-0 SEC-Red (first)

KEY NEWCOMERS: Stella Keating, sr. M (played with the Michigan Jaguars GA last season); Jade Thompson, jr. M; River Pham, jr.; Gabrielle Marble, jr.; Elle Kierce, jr.; Kennedy Wassef, jr.
OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: Skyline was ranked most of last season with only a small batch of seniors but still won the competitive and deep SEC-Red Division title and reached the district finals. The Eagles were then upset by SEC-Red third-place finisher in the district finals. Now Skyline returns nine starters, 13 total players and counts a former Girls Academy player amongst its cast of newcomers, so this team should be in contention once again at the league and district levels. “We have a great shot at finishing in the top three this season. We are returning a Second Team All-State keeper, Sofia Nehro, and an honorable mention all-stater, Casey Vigo. I like the energy this team has brought the past couple of weeks, and if we can continue to bring that on a daily basis our chances of being successful will be all the better. We have a very strong conference this year, so it is going to be super important for us to stay healthy and get better with every game and practice. Our losses to graduation will be felt initially, but with the addition of our new players and the growth of our returning players, we are in a really good place. I expect us to be very competitive this season. We started off the season ranked eighth, which in my opinion is generous. Hopefully the girls will be able to live up to the hype.”

KEY NEWCOMERS: Quincy Behm, fr. F
OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: Hovering around the five-hundred mark last season, Pioneer must find a way to climb the charts in the league even though many of its rivals also bring back key cogs to their engines.
SCHOOL: Dexter
HEAD COACH: Rhys Moeller
2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 15-6-0, 11-3-0 SEC-Red (second)
2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Def. Ann Arbor Pioneer (3-0); lost to Ann Arbor Huron (5-2) in a D-1 district semifinals match.

OTHER KEY RETURNEES:
KEY NEWCOMERS: Kendall Cabana, soph.; Sasha Jones, jr. D
OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: Dexter had a fine season in 2022, finishing with 15 wins and in second place in a deep SEC-Red. The Dreadnaughts were unfortunately dreadful in their final game – a 5-2 setback to Ann Arbor Huron in the district semifinals last June. Dexter did graduate a large chunk of its roster and with standouts from the community playing in the Girls Academy, ECNL 10-month teams or even playing professionally, the Dreadnaughts don’t have a bunch of varsity proven players as they combat in a tough league and district. Several newcomers will battle for playing time along with a short list of returnees.
SCHOOL: Monroe
HEAD COACH: Ryan Charnock, third season
2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 6-14-2, 3-11-0 SEC-Red (tied-sixth)
2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Def. Wyandotte Roosevelt (1-0); lost to Woodhaven (7-0) in a D-1 districts semifinals match.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: None
STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None
RETURNEES: Anna Tedora, sr. D/M (All-League); Emily Eshenroder, soph. F (All-League); Kyleigh Carter, sr. D/M; Molly Meir, jr. D/F; Addison Chaffin, sr. D; Clair Charnock, soph. M; Sydney Cline, jr. M; Saloni Joshi, jr. F; Zoe Leach, soph. D; Alexis McMahon, soph. M; Molly Meier, jr. M/F; Merin Merkle, sr. M/F; Elysia Murnigham, sr. F; Chloe Pabin, jr. D; Rebecca Pace, jr. M; Rowan Stamper, soph. M; Brooke Trouten, jr. M/F; Olivia Venier, soph. D; Caroline Wazniak, soph. M; Alexandria Younglove, soph. D
KEY NEWCOMERS:
OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: The good news for the Trojans is that only two players on last year’s roster graduated. The bad news is the SEC-Red is still very strong. How much can Monroe improve from a year ago when it tied for sixth in the league and lost in the district semifinals. The Trojans won six games last season, so if they can improve upon that total and perhaps pull off an upset or two in the league then this will be an improved squad.
SCHOOL: Saline
HEAD COACH: Leigh Rumbold
2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 10-7-3, 8-4-2 SEC-Red (fourth)
2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Lost to Ann Arbor Skyline (4-3, 2OT, SO) in a D-2 districts semifinals match.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: 2015
STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None
FINAL FOUR-REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: 2015, 2019
RETURNING STARTERS: Chloe Kraff, sr. D (All-League); Norah Dawid, jr. G; Ashley Kruse, jr. F; Zoe Rumohr, sr. M; Kailee Cahill, sr. D
OTHER KEY RETURNEES: Ellie Warden, jr. F; Courtney Pasziewicz, sr. M; Carson Caldwell, sr. D; Payton Maloney, sr. D; Riley Ablauf, jr. M; Ally Friedhome, sr.
KEY NEWCOMERS: Sadie Walsh, fr. M; Nana Derneika, fr.; Sienna Snyder, soph. F; Lydia Zajchowski, fr. D/F; Audrey Driskell, jr.; Priya Samaroo, jr.; Kordula Sadek, soph.; Bettina Soares, soph.; Ava Prinity, soph.; Anika Sadek, soph.
OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: The 2015 state champs have not been ranked the past few years but the Hornets are still a strong side as their 4-0-2 indicates. Saline outscored the opposition 22-1 in that stretch and recorded five straight shutouts to open the season. There is a solid core of 11 returnees coupled with strong freshmen and sophomore classes that have aided the fast start. The Hornets schedule will get tougher in May with a bulk of the Southeastern Conference Red Division schedule still set to be played.
SCHOOL: Temperance-Bedford
HEAD COACH: Kellie Crosteffon, first season
2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 3-16-0, 3-11-0 SEC-Red (tied-sixth)
2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Lost to Saline (8-0) in a D-1 pre-districts match
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: None
STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None
RETURNING STARTERS: Kamryn Clifton, jr. F; Lexi Ripple, jr. M; Hayley Beiser, sr. M; Coryn Tominello, sr. D; Madden Mosley, jr. M; Lesley Canales, soph.
OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: A new coaching staff has the task of building back up the Kicking Mules who have routinely finished in the bottom half in the league. Bedford started the year 1-4-0.
SCHOOL: Ypsilanti Lincoln
HEAD COACH: Jordan Jackson
2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 0-19-0, 0-14-0 SEC-Red (eighth)
2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Lost to Ann Arbor Huron (1-0, forfeit) in a D-1 pre-districts match.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: None
STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None
RETURNEES: Kadence Arnold, jr.; Emma Austin, jr.; Jaci Chatfield, sr.; Elliana Fassbender, sr.; Giselle Gomez, jr.; AnnMarie Hatcher, soph.; Karalynn Jones, jr.; Presephone Katmanivong, jr.; Eilan Killian, sr.; Corrine Killich, jr.; Sarai Morales- Ortega, jr.; Kaylyn O’Grady, sr.; Abbigail Thomas, soph.; Jasmin Valle, jr.
KEY NEWCOMERS: Naveah Boyd, fr.; Laila Gray, fr.; Mya Hamani, fr.
OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: Like many schools in urban areas or distant rural area, Ypsilanti Lincoln doesn’t benefit from a large list of high-level club players. Still Lincoln must compete in a very deep league and district on an annual basis. Last year the program finished 0-19, so any signs of improvement would be a welcome commodity.
