Below are the team capsules for the BCS League. Rounds of Emails were sent to the athletics departments and coaching staffs of every girls soccer program in the state where coaches emails were available in March. OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: A fledging program that’s only been around less than a decade, Covert has yet to hit its stride. The program did not win a game last season and began this season 0-2-0.

OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: Tucked in the very southwestern corner of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, New Buffalo hasn’t had a ton of recent success and is seeking to better its standings in the BCS League this season. The Bison started the campaign 0-2-1.

OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: The Titans only have 100 students to work with, but still fields a competitive side. Michigan Lutheran was third in the league and a district runner-up last season and this year features seven seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and six freshmen who hope to combine for better fortunes.

2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Def. New Buffalo (8-0); def. St. Joseph Michigan Lutheran (5-1, district finals); def. Saugatuck (2-1); lost to Kalamazoo Christian (9-1) in D-4 regional finals

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: None

STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None

RETURNING STARTERS: Nora Proos, soph. F (All-State Honorable Mention; 33 goals and seven assists); Ellie Howard, soph. M (All-State Honorable Mention; 16 goals, 24 assists); Claire Jollay, jr. G (All-State Honorable Mention; .900 save percentage, 1.51 goals against average)

OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: With a quality freshman class leading the charge, Our Lady of the Lake made its deepest run in the postseason to date. The Lakers, formerly known as Lake Michigan Catholic, finished second in the BCS League, won a district before bowing out in the regional finals to eventual state runner-up Kalamazoo Christian. Three All-State players return plus several other key components as the Lakers hope to equal or better their success.
