AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – In a year of being snakebit offensively, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s has been using the state tournament to wreck opposing teams’ seasons.

The Eaglets, who were listed as honorable mention early in the season before suffering multipe one-goal losses, took down Waterford Kettering 2-1 in Tuesday’s Division 2 district semifinals at Auburn Hills Avondale.

Gabe Richer scored the first goal for OLSM off an assist from Tommy Rushwin, while Anthony Marinco scored the game-winner off a pass from Gabe Richer in the Eaglets’ narrow win over the Captains.

St. Mary’s moved to 9-10-0 overall and will face Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood in the district finals Thursday at 5 p.m.

OLSM lost in the district finals last season to Cranbrook (3-0).

BLOOMFIELD HILLS CRANBROOK KINGSWOOOD 2, BIRMINGHAM BROTHER RICE 0: Cranbrook advanced to the district finals for the fourth straight season with this narrow in Tuesday over the Warriors at Auburn Hills Avondale.

Cranbrook, which has outscored the opposition 26-20, improves to 9-5-1 overall on the season. The Cranes notched their sixth shutout of the season and are now riding a three-game win streak that included a 10-5 scoring edge in that run.

The Cranes scored in the 36th and 72nd minutes to eliminate the Warriors, who finished 10-8-2.
