DEWITT, Mich. – DeWitt allowed two or more goals in a game for just the second time this season, as the Panthers posted a tie Tuesday with Grand Ledge, 2-2.
Still, the outright Capital Area Athletic Conference Blue Division regular season title belongs to DeWitt.
DeWitt finishes 5-0-1 in league play to win the outright title with 16 points. Okemos finished with 13 points in the seven-school division. This is the first time since 2012 that DeWitt won the CAAC-Red Division title outright.
DeWitt will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CAAC-Gold Tournament behind top-seeded Mason, which defeated the Panthers 3-0 back on Sept. 12 in a CAAC crossover contest. Mason, last year’s Division 2 state runner-up, won the CAAC-Red Division.
DeWitt has outscored its opposition 49-10 this season with eight shutouts.
MASON 8, FOWLERVILLE 0: Mason wrapped up the CAAC-Red Division title Tuesday with this shutout win over Fowlerville. The Bulldogs, last year’s Division 2 state runner-up, extended their unbeaten streak to seven games with the lopsided victory. Mason earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CAAC-Gold Tournament, which features the combined top four schools from the CAAC-Blue and CAAC-Red divisions. The Bulldogs (9-3-3, 4-0-1) have outscored the opposition 26-0 in conference games this season and 39-7 overall in 15 contests.
BLOOMFIELD HILLS 7, AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 0: Harry Dixon finished with two goals and an assist as the Black Hawks recorded the OAA-White Division win Tuesday. Dylan Sanchez also had two goals for Bloomfield Hills (3-8-2, 2-3-0). During a year where the Black Hawks lost players to MLS Next Academy programs, full-time cross-country and track, and a multitude of injuries, Bloomfield Hills has actually righted the ship in late September and hopes to enter the state tournament in two weeks on a win streak.
OXFORD 4, ROCHESTER 0: Ryan Clark picked up two goals with an assists to lead Oxford to the OAA Red Division shutout win Tuesday. Drew Cady and Tristan Warthun also scored and Nolan Mauser notched the shutout.
WARREN DE LA SALLE 2, LAKE ORION 0: The Pilots, ranked in the top five in Division 2, blanked Lake Orion, honorable mention in the Division 1 polls, in this non-league game Tuesday. JJ Jurcsyk headed home a cross from Daniel Makara, while Josh Ross scored on a 25-yard rocked following a pass from freshman Gavin Baldarotta. Dominic Baldarotta notched the shutout in goal.
