SWARTZ CREEK, Mich. – Bay City John Glenn’s dream season continued Saturday and the Bobcats were also able to flex some more offensive muscles along the way.
Bay City John Glenn finished 3-0-0 on the day with a 17-0 scoring edge, topping Perry (8-0), Swartz Creek (6-0) and Chesaning (3-0) to remain undefeated with an 18-0-2 record.
The Bobcats have no outscored the opposition 89-13 this season with 14 shutouts in 20 games, as they continue to racked up eye-popping numbers which are some of the best in program history.
Junior Asher Clark continued his torrid pace Saturday, registering six goals and eight assists in three games in one day. That gives the forward/attacking midfielder 33 goals and 23 assists on the year.
Brady Priemer added six goals as a multitude of players registered multiple goals or assists. Paul Nori had two goals, Ruben Rivera had two assists on the day, Landon Kogelman had one goal and an assist and Arrow Van Wagoner chipped in with one helper on the day.
Goalkeeper Drew Bailey recorded a goal offensively while he committed to make six saves and recorded three clean sheets. The Bobcats defense was stifling, allowing three opponents to combine for single digits of shots on goal against John Glenn, which has already clinched the Tri-Valley Conference Red Division.
GRAND BLANC 1, TROY 0: The Bobcats posted their ninth shutout in their last 10 games and this one was against Division 1 top-five-ranked Troy Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. Hassan Ali scored the game’s only goal and Eli Pake registered the shutout for Grand Blanc (12-1-1), which now own a 63-7 scoring edge this season despite the team graduating 17 players. Owen Cooper and Dane Felt starred defensively.
PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 2, ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARY’S 0: The fighting Irish picked up goals from Will Lanham and Jack Kilpatrick, with Kilpatrick lacing a 26-yard curing banger inside the far post during this non-league win Saturday. Nick Grembi notched the shutout between the pipes for NDP (15-1-0). It marked the team’s ninth clean sheet on the season. The Irish hold a 56-10 scoring edge this season.
(The Michigan Suburban Soccer Coaches Association sponsored the boys soccer state tournament from 1972-1981 before the MHSAA took over sanctioning the sport in 1982. Prior to 1972, there were a couple of dozen soccer programs in Michigan during the 1960s and early 1970s that competed in the sport but there was no state-wide tournament in place. Coaches, former players, fans, and historians that have information and scores and results from any of the state tournaments from 1975-1981 can submit those final scores to Michigan Soccer Network Web and Content Editor Dan Stickradt at stickradt@michigansoccedrnetwork.com or text to 248-884-1051.
(MSN will compile a random sampling of game results from around the state each day. To send in results from high school varsity, club, amateur, pre-pro, semi-pro or professional soccer, email all pertinent details to Communications Specialist / Web and Content Editor / Director of News Dan Stickradt at stickradt@michigansoccernetwork.com and dstickradt@thepremiermediagrp.com or submit information right on the correct link on the MSN website at https://www.michigansoccernetwork.com/reportascore. Please submit the competing teams, location and date of game, final score, overall and league records, goals, assists, goalkeepers and saves, standout defenders, players of the match, and any other pertinent details of the game. If there are courtesy action photos available, feel free to submit them at the above-listed emails.)
