WATERFORD, Mich. – You can’t stop Kinan Abdulrazzak. You can only hope to contain him.
Bloomfield Hills could do neither Tuesday night in a Division 1 district semifinal at Waterford Mott.
Abdulrazzak scored all four goals as the Lakers upended Bloomfield Hills 4-0 to advance to the district finals for the second straight year.
Bloomfield Hills defeated West Bloomfield 2-0 in last year’s district finals. The Lakers gained some serious measure of revenge and it was more than payback time, and Abdulrazzak took the assignment personally.
An NCAA Division I recruit, Abdulrazzak scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in just the third minute. That goal came off a 30-yard free kick.
Abdulrazzak struck again in the 10th minute, as he finished off a cross from Hazam Alosman, and then he scored the third goal unassisted in the 34th minute to put the Lakers into cruise control at the half.
Abdulrazzak – who has seven hattricks this season – extended his single-season school record to 35 goals when he corralled a pass from senior Brandon Fleurissaint and ripped a shot into the back of the net. It marked the fourth, four-goal outing of the season for the talented forward.
West Bloomfield has never captured a district title since starting its program back in 1982. The Lakers will face Walled Lake Central at 7 p.m. Friday night at Waterford Mott to see if they can finally end the drought.
Chris Faraj recorded six saves to record West Bloomfield’s second shutout of the campaign. The Lakers own a 47-33 scoring edge this season.
Bloomfield Hills ends its season with a 4-11-1 record. The Blackhawks suffered multiple injuries to key players this year, and then lost three more starters who opted not to return this season.
WALLED LAKE CENTRAL 3, NORTH FARMINGTON 1: The Vikings’ offense has outscored the opposition 66-16 this season.
But even after a disappointing third-place finish in the Lakes Valley Conference this season, Walled Lake Central is using the postseason as a shot at redemption.
The Vikings outlasted North Farmington 3-1 in this Division 1 district semifinals clash at Waterford Mott.
Junior midfielder Gabe Cancellara scored all three goals and recorded his first hattrick of the season in leading the Vikings.
Walled Lake Central earned a date Friday with West Bloomfield, as the district finals will be 5:30 p.m. at Waterford Mott.
Sullivan Totin scored for North Farmington (8-10-1), which trimmed the deficit down to 2-1 midway through the second half. The Vikings were able to seal the deal with Cancellara’s third goal of the evening.
